This is an interesting post in which the author of Learning is Messy describes what he thinks constructive learning is. They of course have about a 3 page response to this that includes everything from deep subjects like ‘constructive learning is working with your enemy not to like them, but because you have a common goal’ to something simple. In reading his entry, he said one thing that really caught my attention and got me thinking. “constructive learning is is learning about something you had no intention of learning about because of what you did or are doing to produce something.” This really stuck out to me, because this is what I strive for in my classroom, how can I get students to learn, without meaning to learn? I feel like this type of learning is the most valuable because the student has control and can explore the topic to their own level.
